Richard Young – Chief Executive Officer

Richard has recently been appointed CEO for Ulive Enterprises Ltd. He is a venture capitalist and company director with 20 years’ experience in the North West of England.  Other company work includes, Chairman of Genial Genetics and director of Blue Prism, Graphene Industries and Cogniscience.

In venture capital, he chairs the investment committee for the Rising Stars' group of funds, which invest in technology businesses across the North. He is also on the North West Development Agency’s Enterprise Forum.

Richard was previously Managing Director of the Manchester Technology Fund, which invested in university spin-out companies over a 10 year period to 2009, making a profit as well as earning national awards. Prior to setting up MTF, Richard was Investment Director at 3i plc, the world’s largest venture capital business. In his 25 years as a venture capitalist he has invested in over 50 companies, which together have created shareholder value in excess of £600 million.

Dr Sonja Jonas – Commercial Manager

Sonja joined Ulive in September 2008 as Commercial Manager in the Biomedical Sector. Sonja has worked in technology transfer for the last 15 years starting to develop this career at Imperial College London. In her previous roles Sonja was responsible for technology development and exploitation of a range of biomedical projects arising from the academic and Health Care sector. Within her role as Business Manager in the University of Liverpool, Sonja continued to be responsible for a wide portfolio of Intellectual Property deriving from the outputs of drug discovery and diagnostics related technologies.  Sonja has driven forward a number of these technologies either through spin out activities or licenses working closely with the academic founders and liaising directly with third party licensees.

Dr Amiel Farrington – Commercial Manager

Amiel joined Ulive in October 2008 as a Commercial Manager, having recently moved back to the UK from Pennsylvania, USA, where she expanded her expertise in technology transfer to US based Universities.  Amiel has worked in technology commercialisation and exploitation for over 13 years and brings first-hand experience in technology based businesses to the team having founded, managed and grown a technology business.   Amiel moved to the University sector in 1992 where she added technology licensing to her expertise.  Amiel has a background in Chemistry but has successfully worked in both the physical and life sciences.  Before leaving for the US, Amiel previously worked at the University of Liverpool as a Business Manager.

Trish McGinley – Business Manager

Trish joined Ulive in August 2008 having previously worked in marketing at the University of Liverpool.  She has many years of experience working within the private and public sectors throughout the UK and overseas and has a solid background in business administration, recruitment and marketing.  Trish is currently studying for her CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing.
